Three-Axis Equal-Diameter Coil

The Three-Axis Equal-Diameter Coil, which is a type of three-axis Helmholtz coil exclusively developed by our company, features the nominal diameter coil, the same number of winding turns, and the same specification of wires per axis.
This winding construction allows the Three-Axis Equal-Diameter Coil to have the same resistance, inductance, homogeneity, and B/I coefficient per axis; The coil per axis is fixed to each other in the embedded form, of which this mechanical structure makes the coil to feature a small size and the greater accessibility to the working gap; the whole former is made of non-magnetic PMMA material, which is applied for the study of low and weak magnetic field, and which is very suitable for the shielding room and the magnetic shield. The highest magnetic field of a three-axis equal diameter coil can be designed to be from 0 to 5 Gs.

Operating Principles

The Helmholtz coil consists of a pair of identical circular coils, of which nominal radius is R, and of which the central axes are on the same axis as the Z-axis.  The nominal distance between the two coils is h=R. The two coils have the same number of turns, and each of the coils carries the equal current in the same direction, and there is a good linear relation between the current value and the field magnitude.
